Cold pressure welding is a welding technique in which pressure is applied to deform the workpiece so that the materials are in direct contact. This process will lead to plastic deformation, so that the pure metal at the joint interface will be squeezed and form a strong bond, eventually forming a strong and reliable joint.

Overview of cold pressure welding

The cold welding foil winding machine is characterized in that clean plates and clean foils to be welded are matched and stacked. The foil is positioned above and the plate to be welded is placed on a flat base. Then, a pressure head moving along the normal direction of the base is used to press a pit at the position to be welded to form a welding spot, so that the connection resistance between the foil and the plate is not greater than connection resistance of fusion welding under the same condition.

The scheme is mainly used for copper-aluminum cold pressure welding, and is applicable to welding objects such as aluminum foil or copper foil, aluminum busbar or copper busbar and the like. When welding, it must be ensured that the surface of the workpiece or welding material is clean and free of oil and oxide film. Therefore, if the surface quality is poor, it needs to be treated accordingly. Since pure aluminum and pure copper are easily oxidized in air, it is recommended to remove the oxide film before welding to ensure the welding quality. Different welding materials have different requirements for the depth of welding pit. After the welding object is determined, the appropriate crater depth can be obtained through a small number of experiments under the condition of limited continuous resistance.
